"All you have to do is know where you're going. The answers will come to you of their own accord." ~ Earl Nightingale

One of the things that stop us dead in our tracks is fear. Now, fear comes as a precaution to keep you safe and comfortable. When you are planning something completely out of your comfort zone, then fear will rise up to protect you. This is normal. But what you want to then do is take the leap and do the uncomfortable. If you allow your fears to paralyze you, then fear has conquered you instead of you conquering your fear.

One of the reasons fear creeps up is because we do not take the time to decide what it is we truly want to be, and to do, and to have. As the late Earl Nightingale says all we need to do is to know where we are going. Once we have the map, then the directions will become clear.

STOP, TAKE A BREATH, and ASK:
What do I want to be and to do and to have?

Once you receive the answers, then make the decision to take the actions necessary to make it a reality. Don’t worry about how it’s going to happen, or how you are going to pay for it, or how it will all work out. The “how” is none of your business. Once you make the decision, the how will be taken care of.

Just for today, decide to face your fear and live your true life.

Let Fear Do Its Job

Posted by Doncrack |

“To fear is one thing. To let fear grab you by the tail and swing you around is another.” ~ Katherine Paterson

Although we do not choose our emotions, we do choose which ones will hang around and upset our lives. Our emotions are God-given and we have them for a specific purpose – not to torture us or abuse us; but to alert us to a next step in our lives.

When we stay stuck in fear, we are not allowing the fear to do the job it came to do, to alert us to something that will assist us in our growth. Instead we do not acknowledge the fear, let alone confront it. We are called to stare down our fears, asking it what it wants from us, then taking the next inspired actions.

You are the master of your emotions, not the other way around. Stop allowing your fears to control how you are being and doing in life. Fear is to compliment your existence, not stop it!
“Fear cannot take what you do not give it.” ~ Christopher Coan

So just for today, let fear do its job, while you do yours!

Think... For Yourself

Posted by Doncrack |

"As for worrying about what other people might think - forget it. They aren't concerned about you. They're too busy worrying about what you and other people think of them." ~ Michael le Boeuf

This is so true! It reminds me of something author and leadership expert Dr. John Maxwell often quoted. He said you wouldn’t worry so much what other people thought of you if you knew how rarely they did!

So, get over yourself! People are not thinking about you. In fact, they aren’t thinking of much of anything. They are rehashing yesterday’s fears, worries and doubts; so they really aren’t thinking at all.

But you can be the change you would like to see in your world. Instead of thinking about what other people are thinking about, think about thinking for a change. Did I completely confuse you?

What I mean is, think about what you are thinking about. Are you too rehashing yesterday’s junk? Or, are you really thinking a new thought? Are you being creative, thinking about new ideas and new innovations, and things you can do to become a better you? This is where your mind need to be – in becoming a bigger, better, more powerful you! Check out my post, "I Think...Therefore I AM."

So, just for today, stop thinking about what someone else is thinking about you – because chances are, they aren’t!

Stop rehashing and start thinking!
Coach Carolyn

“If you knew everything was really all right, and that it always has a happy ending, then you would not feel trepidacious about your future. Everything is really so very all right! If you could believe and trust that, then, immediately everything would automatically and instantly become all right.” ~ Abraham

If you had no fear, what would you accomplish?

STOP, TAKE A BREATH, and ASK yourself this question. Most of us operate out of a sense of fear instead of a sense of faith, love and trust.

You never worry about the air around you running out – so you have to run outside and breathe as much of it as possible. You have faith and trust that wherever you go, there is enough air for you to breathe.

Think about your true desires and dreams. If they are truly your dreams and not the dreams of your parents, your cultural tribe or your teachers, then the way to make those dreams reality right there beside those dreams. The answers are always in the same room with the questions.

All divine desires are given divine expressions. That is your task. This is where you take the inspired action to make those dreams and divine desires a reality. When you come from a place of pure divinity, fear does not exist.

Leap. The net will appear.
Coach Carolyn

You are a Divine Expression waiting to express your divine desire. Don't let fear stop you from your expression. Join the Transcending Fear Mentoring Program today and express freely and fully.

Fear makes strangers of people who would be friends.” ~ Shirley Maclaine

The one insidious thing about fear is that it steals your true identity.

When you are in a state of fear, you do not think, behave or speak as you would when you are not afraid. You become a lesser version of yourself. Your authentic self becomes buried beneath the fear and cowering. This, in turn, has the ripple effect. Your are not your real self to people who would become friends. You show up as the lesser you. So if you are wondering why your relationships are not what they ought, think about how you are “being.”

Are you being fearful?

Because if you are, then you need to know that fear will not allow you to have healthy, long-lasting relationships. Your relationships may last long, but I can bet you they are not healthy and filled with peaceful exchanges. They are not nutritious.
Look at your relationships – familial, work, social and otherwise. How would you diagnose them? Healthy or sick?

Remember, you are the common denominator of those relationships; so if they are not healthy, guess what?

"Over the years I’ve realized that when we define ourselves through one thing, we risk being disappointed by unmet expectations. Whether it’s your business, your marriage, your children or your exercise regimen, associating your identity too deeply with one aspect of your life can lead to a true identity crisis and result in unhappiness.

"In fact experts say that the more diverse and varied our interests and passions are, the happier we become, citing examples of happy people who have many facets to their lives. When I first started Ladies Who Launch, like many passionate new launchers, I deeply associated myself with its mission, the brand and the evolving community. However there were times when my enthusiasm backfired, causing me to be discouraged at the twists and turns in the road.

"Feeling discouraged is a negative energy drain and can start a downward spiral leading to bad choices and less than desirable results. "When you question your stressful thoughts, the freedom that comes out of that graces the world for all of us." ~ Byron Katie

When you are not experiencing inner peace, one thing to do is STOP, TAKE A BREATH, and ASK:

“What am I thinking about at this moment?”

Chances are you are thinking something stressful or rehashing and regurgitating thoughts from of old. Take the time to check in with yourself; especially when you are not feeling at peace.

When you are not feeling that peace or serenity, you are not in the present moment. Stress, fear, anxiety are not present moment feelings. You are either in the past or in the future. And why? You cannot change anything that has happened in the past and you cannot control the future. Yes, you can plan, and you need to do that; but plan, visualize and work in this moment to do what you need to do to make those plans a reality.

Stay in the present moment to maintain your inner peace.

“To lead is difficult when you're a follower of fear.” ~ T.A. Sachs

One of my favorite movies is The Holiday. It has some great lines, one of which says that while you are the leading lady in your life, you behave like the best friend – another words, you are living life like you are a supporting character in your own life.

If this is your story, then it is time to start writing a new script. To be a leading lady means you lead with conviction and courage, not following fear and doubt. One way to tell if you are the supporting character in your life instead of the leading lady is to look at what is showing up in your life. Are you getting vague, murky, and unclear messages, then STOP, TAKE A BREATH, and ASK:

“What message am I sending out to the universe?”

Then, notice what you are saying and reacting to. Are your words filled with power and conviction, or are they weak and filled with fear?

What you give is what you get back.

Coach Carolyn

“Fear is faith that it won't work out.” ~ Sister Mary Tricky

Are you living in fear or living in faith? Even if you think you are not a religious person, I am speaking of the faith with a small f; and everyone has faith in something. Most of you have more faith in your fear than you do in your faith. If this is confusing, think about what you do have faith in. You have faith that when you walk out of your home, you will get to your destination. You usually don’t question whether or not you will get to where you want to go – you just go!

This works because you don’t place any drama around it; you simply believe you will get to your destination, especially if you are determined to get there. This ought to go for your dreams as well. Your dreams are someplace you want to get to. But you place more faith in your fear than in your dreams. Make the conscious choice to put your faith in your dreams and don’t allow fear to stop you from living your dreams.

"Don't let go of your dreams. If you have determination and belief in your dreams, you will succeed in spite of your desire to let go.” ~ Catherine Pulsifer

A man lay on his bed at the end of his life waiting to die.

His dream came to pay his last respects and bid farewell to the man who had never used it.

As it entered the room the man looked down in shame.

"Why did you not realize me?" the dream asked.

"Because I was afraid," the man said.

"Afraid of what," said the dream.

"I was afraid I would fail."

"But haven't you failed by not attempting to use me?"

"Yes I did, but I always thought there would be tomorrow."

"You Fool!" said the dream. “Did it never occur to you that there was only ever today; the moment that you are in right now? Do you think that now that death is here that you can put it off until tomorrow?"

"No," said the man, a tear gently rolling down his cheek.

The dream was softer now. It knew there were two types of pain: the pain of discipline and the pain of regret; and while discipline weighs ounces, regret weighs pounds.

Then the dream leaned forward to gently wipe away the tear and said, "You need only have taken the first step and I would have taken one to meet you, for the only thing that ever separated us was the belief in your mind that you couldn't have me.”

Then they said goodbye and they both died.

It is impossible for an anxious person, a worried one, or a fearful one to perceive truth; all things are distorted and thrown out of their proper relations by such mental states, and those who are in them cannot read the thoughts of God.” ~ Wallace D. Wattles

We live in a world of wonderful connections and relationships. Yet, there is something that looms within those connections and relationships that keep us stuck, keep us struggling, keep us broke, and keep us falling into habit patterns that simply do not serve. That something is fear. As Wattles says in The Science of Getting Rich, when we are fearful we cannot perceive truth or properly connect with God or one another.

I have read that most relationships end because of lack of communication. I believe the underlying agent is fear. Why can't we communicate properly? We are afraid of what the other might think.... We are afraid of being rejected.... We are afraid of being hurt.... We are afraid of looking stupid.... And on and on and on it goes. Why are we so afraid? Beliefs, habits and paradigms that do not serve us.

Then we get into another relationship that looks exactly like the one we just got out of or even more toxic. The cycle continues. It is time to get off of the merry-go-round of fear and anxiety. Life is meant to be about ease and flow, not effort and fear. Unfortunately, I see more of the latter than the former. I can see it very clearly because I used to be smack dab in the center of it. I was afraid of everything. Growing up in violence, fear was the name of the game. So, I learned to disappear and it served me well - too well, I may add.

I finally made the decision to get off the fear merry-go-round. But it was not easy. It still is not easy; but because I made the decision, I did it. I had to get in alignment with what the universe had in store for me. Today, I have the tools in my toolkit to release the fears that hold me back and keep me stuck, and transcend the fears that are working for my highest good.

If you too are ready to release limiting beliefs and fears that keep you stuck, then join the Transcending Fear Mentoring Program. Stop letting your fears keep you from the connections and relationships you were destined to have.

“As we ask questions and seek our purpose, we look for answers both inside and outside ourselves. We learn from others; our own experience; books, workshops, teachers, and mentors; and our painful mistakes. We receive many messages – some of them mixed – about what we’re supposed to be doing with our lives and what will make us feel as if we’re on the right path toward happiness, fulfillment, and a sense of meaning.” ~ From The Won Thing by Peggy McColl

Yes, I have done all of the above, only to discover that I really did not have to look very far for all the answers I was seeking. In my many years of working with women and men in helping them find their passion and purpose, I see so many nix the idea that the answers are already within. The question that baffled me for so long was why were we placed on this earth without a roadmap? Come to discover, we weren’t. We were given very special and very personalized roadmaps. We have just misplaced them!

We were all incarnated on this dear earth to deliver our own very special and very unique messages; but we seem to have forgotten the message. So, we wander around as messengers without the message. Instead of stopping, taking a breath, and asking ourselves some simple questions, we fret, worry, doubt, get anxious, become fearful and lose our way.

Think about this: butterflies, sunflowers, birds, you name it - never forget their message. They never forget what they have come here to do. Just stop and think about this. I double dare you!

As I always say – stopping is a spiritual action. Take some time to stop and remember the message you came here to deliver. Once you do, you will be amazed at how everything else in your life just falls into place.

Here’s to living your best life!

“Getting what you want is success; and success is an effect, coming from the application of a cause. Success is essentially the same in all cases; the difference is in the things the successful people want, but not in the success. Success is essentially the same, whether it results in the attainment of health, wealth, development or position; success is attainment, without regard to the things attained. And it is a law in nature that like causes always produce like effects; therefore, since success is the same in all cases, the cause of success must be the same in all cases.” ~ From How to Get What You Want by Wallace D. Wattles

So, we are nearing the end of January and I have a question for you: How are you doing with your 2010 intentions?

Wattles goes on the state, “The cause of success is some power within you....”

If you are not attaining the success you intended at the beginning of the year, then it is because you are not utilizing your power within. Why? The answer is likely fear. If you are already feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or thinking about the “how”, then chances are you are experiencing some level of fear. Interestingly, fear creeps up in very insidious ways; ways you may not be fully aware of.

Think about your intentions.

* Are they in alignment with who you are becoming?
* Do you have a big enough “why”?
* Are they something that you are passionate about or merely what you think you “should” be doing?

As we end the first month of this brand new year, just for today, STOP, TAKE A BREATH, and ASK yourself these questions. Then sit and listen for what your soul answers.

Shifting Fear to Faith

Posted by Doncrack |

"The closer we get to uncovering ourselves, the more difficult it becomes to face the truth. Sooner or later we stop running, out of sheer exhaustion and desperation, and turn around to face our image. The pain that we go through during this revelation is negligible compared to the state of grace that we enter into when we have finally moved on." ~ Dr. Christiane Northrup

Remember, fear is a mechanism to alert you of an upcoming change. It simply tells your mind that this is something new and tread with caution. There is some level of fear in all things unknown, but the truth is, everything is unknown until we know it! So, have faith to know more than you know now. Get it?

Walk through the fear with faith,
Coach Carolyn

"People who make decisions go to the top. Those who fail to make decisions go nowhere." ~ Bob Proctor

Most people fail to make decisions out of fear. Fear of failure, fear of success, fear of the unknown. When we make the decision, it is coming out of a place of inspiration, in Spirit. In the spirit realm, there is no failure, no limitations, no fear. So, where is the fear really coming from? Perhaps we will succeed beyond our wildest dreams. And yes, we may just get the fill-in-the-blank that we have been desiring.

Remember what Marianne Williamson said? That our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate, but that we are powerful beyond measure. Yes, this is a bit scary to wrap our brains around, especially if we have had years and years of someone telling us that we weren’t good enough, smart enough, pretty enough, this, that, and the other thing enough.

I have a question for you. Let’s suppose it was, or is, your mother who told you, or continues to tell you, these limiting beliefs about yourself. Now, remember back. Your mother told you lots of things; especially what not to do and who not to hang around with. Are you remembering? Good. Some of what she told you, you bought into and some you didn’t. Some you believed and some you didn’t. Some you chose to make your story and some you chose to ignore. What was the difference?

Just for today, ponder the difference. Make the decision. Take a leap of faith and do it afraid.

Is It Fear or Faith?

Posted by Doncrack |

"You block your dream when you allow your fear to grow bigger than your faith." ~ Mary Manin Morrissey

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn’t serve the world. There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We are born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us, it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” ~ From A Return to Love by Marianne Williamson, page 191

Believe in the faith of your dreams and not the fear of them.
Coach Carolyn

I was always one of those perfectionists. And because I could never be as perfect as I thought I needed to be, I would freeze in my own fear and never complete anything. It wasn’t until my lovely coach Kristin said to me: COMPLETION matters more than perfection.

This was so liberating to me. I now write it in my daily planner every single day. It has become one of my mantras. This meant that I didn’t have to aim for perfection, that I just needed to aim and wherever it hit, it was better than not aiming at all.

One of our lovely BWP members, Renee, wisely shared this quote with the group:

“You miss 100 percent of the shots you never take.” ~ Wayne Gretzky

If one of your stories is that you must get it right 100 percent, then it is time to release that story because that’s all it is. It’s just a story and chances are it isn’t even your story. So wherever you picked it up, say “No thank you,” go give it back and try a new story: COMPLETION matters more than perfection.

“Aim for success, not perfection. Never give up your right to be wrong, because then you will lose the ability to learn new things and move forward with your life. Remember that fear always lurks behind perfectionism. Confronting your fears and allowing yourself the right to be human can, paradoxically, make yourself a happier and more productive person." ~ Dr. David M. Burns

The Fear of Procrastination

Posted by Doncrack |

When we look at the unrealistic fears in our lives, one of the major indicators is procrastination. Wikipedia defines procrastination as “a behavior which is characterized by the deferment of actions or tasks to a later time.”

At a workshop I attended sometime back, the majority of the participants cited procrastination as the main cause of not beginning a task, a dream or a desire. They knew exactly what to do, but the problem came in the actual doing. I must admit to having this particular syndrome many times in my life. It became so detrimental to my life that I had to discover what was going on. Then came the awareness. I looked at the things I did quite easily without delay. What was the difference?

It wasn’t passion. I am passionate about writing, yet for a long time I would put off writing these blog posts.

I looked at the reasons why I had to do the thing that I procrastinated on. Was it something that I had to or should do, or something that I wanted to do? I did not have to write these blog posts; but I definitely wanted to. It took a shift in mindset, then the means to blog daily came so easily and effortlessly.

If procrastination is plaguing you, look at the reasons why you are doing the thing you keep putting off. Is it because you want to or because you think you should do it? Remember, stop “shoulding” over yourself. And if it is a task that you must do to move to another level, then reframe why you are doing it. Say to yourself, “I get to do _____, which will move me closer to ______!”

It’s all about awareness and making conscious choices. This is your life and you only get one; but if you work it right, one is all you need!

“Procrastination is not the cause of our problems with accomplishing tasks; it is an attempt to resolve a variety of underlying issues, includ¬ing low self-esteem, perfec¬tionism, fear of failure and of success, indecisiveness, an imbalance between work and play, ineffective goal-setting, and negative concepts about work and yourself.”
~ Dr. Neil Fiore, The NOW Habit
