I rather think there has been a taste of a campaign feat on, within the BBC scripting department for Eastenders. Unlike the horrors of the past babies born over in Coronation St, Eastenders babies have been feat through a rattling slow transformation... from instruction fed, to breastfed.
Now, before we start looking at this, let's advert that clean babies have a rattling hard time, dramatically speaking. They ofttimes disappear for months, if not years, and if you stop and think most it too closely, they are ofttimes at bag on their own, as every the field characters attractive tending of them, are in the pub having a fight.
Bottle feeding, whether instruction or expressed boob concentrate (as if!) works rattling well with planning a clean baby. You crapper apportionment it soured to the baby-sitters for several weeks at a time. You crapper also do a taste most dumb and deadly Dads, existence too thick to bottleful feed them correctly, and refusing to be fathers.
Also, you have the prudish crossway to contend with. A BABY BREASTFEEDING BEFORE THE 9pm WATERSHED!!!!!!! Pass the smelling salts.
So there are quite a few issues, on cost of narrative, most clean babies. Not to name meet ultimate stupidity. I emailed Coronation Street most a newborn Mum existence allowed to boob feed, most 4 eld ago. I was informed, in every seriousness, that it would be confusing and dangerous to have a breastfeeding child latched on to an actress for a scene. As they'd meet tried to drown every the Platts, including 2 year older Bethany at the time, I commented back I was quite astonied to hear they'd actually equal Bethany down and thrown her in a car in the canal.. and not pretended they were drowning her....
Coronation Street continues to be dire.
Eastenders however... well I odor a campaign. Slow, subtle, stealthy. First we have Honey, whatever eld back now, dropping meaningful with the soon to be child Janet. Tanya offers her a breastfeeding top.
Rather funny, when Tanya promptly bottleful feeds child Oscar, the unseeable and lost child Who Is Never Seen. (Perhaps she plans to bag civilize him, and thus is hiding him from the go get?) ;-)
Then, we have child Janet existence born, and Honey's painfulness that she can't go to the breastfeeding clinic as connatural Mums can, as Janet has Down's Syndrome and has hunch problems.
Hmm... not rattling good, and you crapper wager the only reason it's mentioned, is that she's existence denied something. You crapper work discover that if Janet didn't have Down's Syndrome in the narrative, Honey would meet have bottleful fed instruction like every clean Mums...
However.
Honey falls meaningful again, and a couple of eld later, child Billy is born, and Honey breastfeeds him, act a gain curtain. It's a slight plot line, Ian Beale goes ape most 'doing that sort of thing' in the cafe. Billy sounds soured most 'doing the best for the baby'. We only ever wager the Net curtain, never any actualised breastfeeding.
Then... Roxy falls pregnant. Now I've blogged most Roxy and the breastfeeding. I feel they did it rattling well. I undergo others were upset most her trying, and querulous it hurt, and talking most the middle class Mums existence shocked she was using formula... but as I said at the time, I felt this was true to her character, and rattling well done. Roxy would never have been seen as the sort of mother to even attempt to breastfeed, and faced with a preemie in a plastic box, she did so. It was fitted around the message in soft and upgrade touches.
Like Honey, 'tho, we never wager it. It's discussed. No Net curtain, but a discussion.
And today Heather. Heather, who in tonight's episode, is breastfeeding child George.
Without note.
Without comment.
Without message construction.
It meet is.
It was wonderful. It was simply wonderful, to wager a mother in a scene, talk most something added entirely, and meet nurse her baby. A casual interpret that the child is hungry, and likes to eat. No making a meal of it from either the staff, or the camera. The word 'breastfeeding' never used. Just feeding.

And I wonder... I so wonder... if you look at the above progression, it could be a rattling clever abstract the BBC have meet done. By slowly, gently, and without actual fuss, made it so that they crapper show a child breastfeeding... without gain curtain.. and not have it commented upon. Given the groundwork, I think rattling few people will kvetch most Heather breastfeeding child George.
And that's wonderful.
If you agree, verify the BBC. We can't complain, if we don't congratulate where it is due.
It will be interesting to wager where it goes. I cannot for the life of me wager how they crapper intend Heather to wear a gain mantle (thank the System Overlords!). I crapper wager her breastfeeding the child in face of the father, whoever he is.
I crapper wager her feat to the bottleful relatively quickly, as this is a clean baby. But who knows? Maybe she will carry on breaking the taboos... or maybe, it will be the next baby, or the next but digit baby, whose mother will not meet breastfeed, but actively reject bottleful feeding.
That does feel a taste of a stretch... but I could be wrong!
Regardless, I do think this digit moment of completely natural, no overstatement, no fuss, meet is, breastfeeding, should be applauded.
